Bar Fridges Australia needed to relocate quickly after their warehouse arrangements became unstable. Their new Ballarat facility gave them a large open footprint, but not enough usable storage area for the volume of stock they carry.
The project also landed across Christmas and New Year, when most businesses slow down, and the slab across the site had significant level variation that had to be resolved before installation could happen properly.
- Designed, engineered, fabricated and installed a 1,500m² mezzanine floor for the new warehouse
- Delivered the project under an accelerated programme spanning the Christmas / New Year period
- Installed two staircases for access across the large mezzanine footprint
- Added a 2.5m safety fence around the mezzanine due to the platform height of 4.8m
- Measured slab variation across the warehouse and fabricated approximately 60 posts at custom heights to suit site conditions
- Coordinated remote planning and communication with the Victorian client from Queensland
- Managed engineering, fabrication, installation and approval-related coordination in a compressed timeframe
- Supported the client through an urgent warehouse expansion without requiring a new building
Bar Fridges Australia approached FMF in early December needing a fast solution after being forced to move warehousing arrangements. While they had secured a new factory in Ballarat, the space still did not provide enough storage capacity for their operation. As a major supplier of commercial refrigeration products, they needed to make the new site work quickly and efficiently.
FMF responded immediately and kept the project moving through the Christmas and New Year period, progressing drafting, engineering, fabrication and planning while most of the industry was slowing down. The result was a 1,500m² mezzanine floor installed from 4 February and completed by around 24 February, giving the client substantial additional storage capacity in a very short period.
A key challenge was the slab, which varied by around 40–50mm across sections of the site. FMF resolved this by customising post heights to suit each location, allowing the structure to be installed accurately and efficiently. The finished result gave Bar Fridges Australia the extra floor area they needed, helped stabilise a difficult relocation, and showed FMF’s ability to deliver large-scale mezzanine projects quickly, competitively and with full technical control.
