Discrete mezzanine insert for a private client within an existing structure; front edge would be in constant view and needed to look intentional, not industrial; safe stair/handrail integration without crowding the space; finish quality had to exceed basic compliance and feel “designed”.
Compact mezzanine bay tied cleanly into the existing frame; aluminium handrail and stair positioned to keep circulation clear; custom black front-edge fascia (plinth) added to conceal the stringer/fasteners and create a single, deliberate sightline; steelwork workshop-painted and installed with neat zinc fixings and an FMF identification plate; applied FMF’s installer QA standard (“if it wouldn’t pass at your own place, it doesn’t pass here”) to lift the result beyond a typical retrofit.
A small, well-detailed mezzanine can transform a private shed/workshop. FMF delivered a neat, safe platform with a refined front elevation—thanks to a painted fascia that ties the whole edge together. The outcome reads as purpose-built rather than “bolted on”, showing how thoughtful detailing and disciplined installation can elevate a compact space.
