Challenges

Limited height in domestic shed; needed both office facilities and storage.

Solutions

Designed skinny, strong mezzanine floor to maximise upstairs/downstairs height; included kitchen, office rooms, and long-span shelving.

Project Summary

Phase Tech Electrical was operating from a domestic-sized shed on a residential block and needed to create both functional office space and ample storage without the benefit of generous ceiling height. They engaged FMF to design a mezzanine that maximised headroom on both levels by using a slimmer, high-strength floor structure. The new space included offices, a kitchenette, and downstairs facilities, with long-span shelving above for storing everyday electrical components. By engineering the mezzanine with closer, stronger joists, FMF was able to deliver both strength and extra usable height. The result was a fully self-contained, highly functional base of operations that allowed Phase Tech Electrical to run efficiently without the need to move premises.
